Biography

Howard Gayle Adams was a U.S. Army sergeant from Corsicana, Texas, and one of 21 American Korean War prisoners who refused repatriation. He crossed into China with the group on February 24, 1954 and worked at a paper factory in Jinan. He consistently declined interviews. Later reporting said he had returned to the United States and may subsequently have gone back to China; the end of his exile is not firmly documented.
