Biography

Harriet U. Andrews (May 23, 1884 - March 7, 1959) was a member of the National Woman's Party and one of the "Silent Sentinels" imprisoned during the 1917-1919 campaign to picket the Wilson White House for woman suffrage.

She was arrested on January 7, 1919 at a watchfire demonstration, and sentenced and committed on January 8 to five days in the District Jail. Sources describe her as serving five days; no discharge record has been found, so the nominal release date of January 13 is not entered.
