Biography
Geronimo Cervantes was a striking strawberry worker convicted with four other strikers of assault and battery in Alhambra, California on June 3, 1936, according to the Los Angeles dispatch on page 3. International Labor Defense lawyer Grover Johnson represented the five. Sentencing was announced for the following morning; the report does not establish the actual sentence, arrest or prison admission day, discharge, or actual custody duration. The newspaper characterizes the charges as a frame-up; that characterization is attributed to the source.
