Biography

The July 23 Western Worker’s July 11 San Jose dispatch reports Frank Stanek released from San Jose jail after a drunkenness conviction carrying ten dollars or two days. It alleges a drugged drink after his antiwar demonstration at the NavalReserve armory, interrogation and beating for Communist affiliation, solitary confinement and threats, followed by release when he would not name comrades. It says the ILD intended medical examination and police prosecution. The accusations are the contemporary report’s claims; the fine-or-days alternative is not proof of two days actually served.
