Biography
Frank LaMere was a Winnebago activist and Nebraska political leader known for Indigenous-rights advocacy and his long campaign against beer sales in Whiteclay, Nebraska. On July 3, 1999, state police arrested him with Russell Means and five other Native activists after they crossed a police line during a march from Pine Ridge to Whiteclay. Dennis Banks secured their release later that day. No overnight confinement or later sentence is documented.
