Biography

Edward Eugene Strong was a Black Communist organizer and member of the Communist Party national administrative committee. Federal agents arrested him in New York City on May 29, 1956 after a Boston grand jury returned a Smith Act conspiracy indictment. A commissioner set bail at $10,000. Strong died on April 9, 1957, before the case reached trial. The reviewed record does not establish a custodial interval after arrest.
