Biography
Edgar Hoover, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to three years in prison. He served in Leavenworth Penitentiary from July 1918 to July 16, 1921. In Leavenworth Penitentiary Hoover was placed in "isolation on restricted diet" for "disrespect toward officer, " failing to "get up " in the morning, "talking in dining hall, " "loafing, " "talking in excess" and "mutinous conduct" for "shouting like a cat" when the guard attempted to speak with the prisoner. Hoover had over eighteen separate disciplinary write-ups.
