Earl Whitten was a Working Class Union member from Oklahoma. Earl Whitten was sentenced to six years in prison and served from October 6, 1917, until his parole on September 16, 1920.
The presidential-clemency table in the 1921 Senate amnesty hearings records a sentence imposed October 6, 1917: Six years. Commuted July 17, 1920 to four years with good-conduct allowances. A pardon, commutation, nominal expiration or parole eligibility is not itself evidence of the day of physical release; the imposed or reduced term is not a measured time served.
