Biography

David Gardner was a member of the Los Angeles Catholic Worker who was jailed following an antiwar action at the downtown Los Angeles federal building on Ash Wednesday, March 5, 2003. In his interview for Rosalie G. Riegle's Crossing the Line, he described receiving a forty-five-day sentence in Los Angeles County Jail, with community service offered as an alternative. He said that overcrowding led to his early release after eight days. He distinguished this imprisonment from earlier protest arrests that had not resulted in a jail sentence.
