Biography

Darwin Alonso was one of four named defendants held after a raid on workers seeking relief near Winters, California. The paper says the defendants were taken to Fairfield in Solano County, originally booked on vagrancy and then on rout after an ILD attorney objected. Bail was $500 each; defense fundraising secured their release. Darwin is identified as a University of California student and Social Problems Club member. The July 18 trial was still prospective and no final outcome or precise detention span is given. Western Worker, July 15, 1932, page 4.
