Biography
Daniel O'Connell was an attorney, a Socialist and an Irish Nationalist from San Francisco. Daniel O'Connell was convicted of giving "speeches." He was sentenced to seven years in prison and served in McNeil Island Penitentiary. O'Connell had formed an anti-draft organization called "American Patriots" to publish The American Independent. He was barred from practicing law in the state of California because of his political activities.
The March1922 official report lists Daniel O’Connell in List1 of convicted prisoners or parolees. The government entry reports Violating the espionage act, etc. a sentence of Weptember 29, 1917, 7 years, McNeil Island, Wash.. Imposed terms, projected term-expiration dates, parole eligibility and intervals on bond are different measures; none is entered as a complete actual custody total.
