Biography

Bernard McCoy was a Bonus Army veteran arrested at the Third Street and Pennsylvania Avenue billets after the July 28, 1932 police shooting of William Hushka. The August 1 Daily Worker reports him with two other named veterans held under $3,000 bail on an assault-with-a-dangerous-weapon accusation. Police threatened a murder charge if an injured officer died; that conditional threat is not entered as a filed murder charge. The report supplies no verdict, physical discharge or completed detention duration. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1932/v09-n182-NY-aug-01-1932-DW-LOC.pdf#page=3
