Biography

Frederick C. Weaver was a Howard University student, Washington Afro-American reporter and organizer of the 1934 campaign against segregated public restaurants in the U.S. Capitol. On March 17, police arrested Weaver, Kenneth Clark, Dudley Clark and O. Phillips Snowden for blocking the sidewalk outside the First Precinct while they waited for a bondsman to help release waiter Harold Covington. Captain W. E. Holmes dropped their charges and destroyed the arrest records. The students returned to campus. Weaver later worked for the Washington Tribune and an advertising agency in New York.
