Biography
Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz was arrested with Marimar Martinez after an October 4, 2025 encounter with federal immigration agents in Chicago. A federal judge rejected the government’s request to keep him detained, and prosecutors later dismissed the charge with prejudice.
Original complaint records individual arrest, not jail endpoints
The October 5, 2025 criminal complaint, sworn at 8:03 a.m. before Magistrate Judge Heather K. McShain on FBI Special Agent Caitlin Malone’s affidavit, names Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz with Marimar Martinez under 18 U.S.C. §111(a) and (b). Paragraph 17 says Ruiz stayed at the gas station until arrested by Border Patrol during the October 4 incident. This is an individually attributed arrest report, not proof of a precise jail-booking time, a three-day physical stay, or an October 7 discharge. The affidavit’s vehicle-collision and assault account consists of the original government allegations, not a conviction or adjudicated factual findings. The separately recorded later dismissal with prejudice and the existing custody endpoints remain unchanged.

Related judicial account records the November dismissal request
In the November20,2025 Briggs opinion, Judge Fuentes separately reports that the government was that day moving to dismiss the Section111 prosecutions of Marimar Martinez and Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz, after both had experienced detention for several days. This is a contemporaneous judicial reference to the prosecution request in their separate case, not the order granting that request or proof of a with-prejudice disposition. It gives no individual admission or release day. Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz’s separately sourced later dismissal and existing October4–7 custody interval remain unchanged; the November filing date is not used as a jail endpoint. This is distinct from the already cited original October5 complaint.
