Biography
A. M. Pruett signed a first-person letter from Sacramento County Jail, published November 15, 1934, identifying himself as a disabled American World War veteran. He described twenty-four workers held after raids, seventeen days before trial, a jury impasse followed by guilty verdicts after the judge’s intervention, and fifteen-day sentences. He then described continued detention pending criminal-syndicalism proceedings. The letter does not establish that all twenty-four were among the eighteen defendants or supply complete custody endpoints.
