Biography

A. M. Murphy, identified as assistant secretary of the Pacific Marine Firemen, was arrested in San Francisco with union secretary Earl King and accused of murdering engineer Alberts at Point Lobos the previous March. The August 30 dispatch says the arrests occurred yesterday, implying August 29, 1936, while the established King record dates his arrest August 27; that conflicting chronology is retained without applying it as a certain exact date. King and labor supporters described the prosecution as an effort to impose unfavorable maritime terms. The accusations are attributed; Murphy’s final disposition and complete custody duration are unknown.
