Biography
A. Grosberg was one of six Los Angeles workers reported held for deportation following a raid on Communist Party headquarters after distribution of Young Communist League leaflets opposing U.S. intervention in Nicaragua. The January 14, 1930 Daily Worker individually identifies Grosberg, F. Firestone, Dovranos, Zimi, Frank Spector and Aronberg. He was a marine worker and Communist Party member who had lived in the United States for sixteen years. The paper reported that his sister’s home in Poland had been raided and that Secretary of Labor Davis signed a deportation writ, which the International Labor Defense was appealing. It attributed the proceedings to his refusal to leave Los Angeles and stop organizing after an offer by detective Hynes. Exact custody endpoints, completed duration and any actual deportation are unestablished; initials are not expanded.
