Reality Winner was sentenced on August 23, 2018, to 63 months in prison for transmitting a classified intelligence report to a news organization. The court also imposed three years of supervised release.
Winner left prison in June 2021 for a halfway house and later home confinement. Her custodial term ended in November 2021.
The move out of prison began a period of confinement closer to home. Her sentence also required supervision after the custodial term ended.
