Biography
William Matheson, a Communist subdistrict organizer, was arrested with Jack Johnstone when police raided the West Frankfort antiwar meeting in early August 1929. The newspaper describes police violence at the meeting. It does not give Matheson’s precise physical discharge, final disposition or total custody; Johnstone’s separately reported later release is not automatically assigned to him.
