Biography

William James Lyles was a Philadelphia defendant in the 1967 RAM-related conspiracy prosecution. Contemporary reporting identifies him as Rashed and records an earlier detention on an incitement-to-riot charge. By late September he had been transferred from the city detention center to the House of Correction. He subsequently appeared with Anthony Monteiro, Reginald Grantham and Edward Super in the conspiracy proceedings. The claim that he belonged to RAM came from the prosecution's informant; it is not independently established here. His release date, final case outcomes and total time in custody remain unverified.
