Biography

William Hockstra, printed William Hockstra with the name divided across lines, was an ex-serviceman arrested and beaten in Arlington cemetery for trying to distribute antiwar leaflets on August 1, 1933. The annual review says he was taken to hospital near death. It does not establish death, a judicial sentence, jail admission, release or measured service. Hockstra and Hoekstra variants were checked without a match. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/labordefender/1934/v10n02-feb-1934-lab-def.pdf#page=20
