Biography
William Grove was arrested in Dallas on February 25, 1931, when police attacked an unemployment demonstration. Twenty people were arrested. Authorities released the ten Black demonstrators at City Hall; several Mexican demonstrators received fines or suspended sentences. Grove, Lewis Hurst and Charles Coder remained in custody on vagrancy charges. The demonstration and the arrests formed part of the campaign for unemployment relief and equal rights in Dallas.
