Biography

William Anthony was the spokesman for forty unemployed South Side workers in Jamaica, New York, who demanded immediate relief at the local Home Welfare Association office. The December 28, 1931 Daily Worker reports that police removed the delegation and arrested Anthony after an official demanded the names and addresses of Communist Party members. He was held under $100 bond to appear January 4. The report does not supply an exact arrest day, statutory charge, sentence, release or total detention.
