Biography
Walter Bond was a well known animal rights activist who was arrested for arson after police claim they received a tip stating he was responsible for a series of fires that destroyed multiple animal product businesses. Due to having previously spent 4 years in jail for destroying a meth lab as part of a personal campaign to stop local the drug trade, Bond was considered a repeat offender and faced decades behind bars if convicted. Due to this he plead guilty for the arsons and was sentenced to a decade in jail.
The December 2011 ALF Supporters Group update reports an additional seven-year sentence in October 2011 for the Tandy Leather store and Tiburon restaurant fires in Salt Lake City in June and July 2010. It explicitly distinguishes that sentence from the earlier five-year Colorado Sheepskin Factory sentence. The additional legal case overlaps the already recorded imprisonment and adds no separate served-time counter.
