Biography
Vanessa Carrasco was one of the Justice Eight street-vendor advocates prosecuted over three September 2023 confrontations in Pomona and Victorville. The Sentinel reports the group’s December 14, 2023 arrests and the June 7, 2024 guilty pleas before Judge John M. Wilkerson. The plea was to assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury under PC 245(a)(4). Other listed counts were to be dismissed under the agreement. The agreement called for her release on June 7 and a December 12 sentencing to 353 days in county jail with 353 days of credit. That credit includes legal credits and is not a statement of 353 actual days physically confined. Earlier September arrests are separate episodes; incident dates are not the December booking date.
