Biography
Fernando Lopez was one of the Justice Eight street-vendor advocates prosecuted over three September 2023 confrontations in Pomona and Victorville. The Sentinel reports the group’s December 14, 2023 arrests and the June 7, 2024 guilty pleas before Judge John M. Wilkerson. Lopez pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm under PC 245(a)(1). Other listed counts were to be dismissed under the agreement. He remained in custody under an agreement for a future December 12 sentencing to two years in state prison with 364 days of credit. The credit was not an actual 364-day stay already completed on June 7, and this edition does not verify the later sentencing or discharge.
