Biography

Tyronne Smith was a New York Black Panther member arrested with Joudon Ford at Kennedy Airport on January 24, 1969, while traveling to the Los Angeles funeral of Bunchy Carter and John Huggins. The Militant’s February 7 issue reported that both remained jailed because they could not raise bail. Their lawyers and the Party challenged the bail as political harassment. Smith’s release date and later outcome remain unverified.
