Portland anti-ICE protester federally charged with arson after throwing a lit highway flare at the gate of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement field office in southwest Portland during the 2025 Operation Metro Surge / federal-deployment-era confrontations. Of the 37 federal cases brought against Portland ICE protesters in 2025, Barker's 18-month arson sentence is the longest custodial sentence in the cohort.
Earlier pretrial custody
The July 1, 2025 District of Oregon announcement explicitly dates Barker's initial arrest to June 27, 2025 and reports that he and the other three defendants were released on conditions after their Monday, June 30 first appearances. This earlier June 27–30 episode is recorded separately from the later September arrest and April 2026 prison admission. It is an initial pretrial stay within the prosecution, not an additional conviction or sentence. Three days is the calendar difference, not a source assertion of exactly 72 hours. June 11 is the alleged conduct date, not the arrest date.
