Biography
Tatsuko Sato Matsui was a Honolulu Japanese American and the wife of detained bank manager Totaro Matsui. Her individual JCCH record documents departure from Hawaii aboard Matsonia in November 1944 to join family members in mainland internment, confinement at Crystal City Family Internment Camp, Texas, and return to Honolulu aboard Shawnee in December 1945. Her entry into family confinement is distinct from her husband’s December 1941 arrest. The archive does not establish an individual criminal conviction or exact Crystal City arrival and release days.
