Biography

Harry Minoru Urata was a Honolulu Japanese language teacher at Hawaii Chuo Gakuin. JCCH records his wartime arrest in April 1943, Honouliuli confinement May 1943-November 1944, and Tule Lake confinement November 1944-September 1945. After Minneapolis, he returned to Hawaii aboard the Shawnee in December 1945. This was US wartime civilian incarceration; the cited archive does not establish an individual criminal conviction.
