Biography

Taras Meshechek was arrested in the House of Masses in Detroit. The 1920 congressional case summary attributes to a Justice Department agent an allegation of Communist Party membership based on the secretary's register. Meshechek said he had visited to obtain books from the former Socialist library and had left Socialist Branch No. 3 because he did not want to be a Communist. Officials recommended deportation, but the warrant was canceled April 1. No exact arrest day, physical release or complete actual detention duration is supplied.
