Biography
Talmadge Raley was convicted of contempt after refusing to answer questions from the Ohio Un-American Activities Commission. He received concurrent ten-day jail terms and a $500 fine. The U.S. Supreme Court reversed the conviction on June 22, 1959 because the commission had affirmatively misled witnesses about their right to refuse answers. Whether Raley served the ten days before the reversal remains unresolved.
