Biography
Takako Chinen was born in May 1945 at Tule Lake Segregation Center into the family of Takahiko and Kiyoko Chinen. Her own JCCH record documents Tule Lake confinement May-November 1945 and arrival in Hawaii aboard Shawnee in December 1945. Birth in confinement is not described as an arrest or conviction. The arrival month is distinct from the last documented camp month. This was administrative US wartime family confinement in the context of Japanese ancestry. No individual criminal conviction, imposed judicial sentence or exact arrest or release day is established. Source: https://incarceration.jcchawaii.org/internees/chinen-takako
