Biography

T. J. O'Flaherty's first-person April 1927 Labor Defender memorial to C. E. Ruthenberg describes his own arrest during the August 1922 Bridgman Communist convention raid and confinement with Ruthenberg in Berrien County jail. He recalls detectives gathering the group into automobiles and taking them to jail. The initials are not expanded, and Ruthenberg's conviction is not assigned to the author. The source establishes actual custody but supplies no exact individual arrest day, physical discharge or complete term.
