Biography

Sylvester Scott was an International Labor Defense supporter whose release from Rikers Island on May 1, 1936 followed six months actually spent in prison. The May 27 Daily Worker says Scott, newly released, had collected a hundred-dollar quota for its milk fund and earned a gold pin. The article supplies neither his charge nor his admission date. Six months is documented completed imprisonment; no intake day is calculated backward from that duration.
