Biography

Stevie Wilson, also known as Stephen Wilson, is a Black queer abolitionist writer and organizer. While imprisoned at SCI Fayette in Pennsylvania, he wrote in support of Rikers Island hunger strikers seeking protection from COVID-19. Prison officials intercepted his electronic message and issued a misconduct report. Following an April 7, 2020 disciplinary hearing, he received 30 days in solitary confinement and began a hunger strike against the punishment. He later described spending a month in solitary for the writing. This case concerns that disciplinary confinement; his original criminal imprisonment is a separate matter. In a July 2026 firsthand essay, Wilson reported completing his underlying sentence and leaving prison on February 9, 2026.

Case

Charges: Prison disciplinary allegation of encouraging unauthorized group activity through an electronic message supporting hunger strikers
Incarcerated: Apr 7, 2020
Sentence: 30 days of disciplinary solitary confinement following the April 7, 2020 hearing at SCI Fayette. Wilson later reported spending a month in solitary. The April 1 misconduct report and hearing were prison disciplinary proceedings, not a new criminal conviction. The exact date of return to general population and appeal outcome are not established. February 9, 2026 was release from the underlying prison sentence, not the end of this solitary episode.
