Biography

Steve Kurtz, a University at Buffalo artist and Critical Art Ensemble cofounder, was detained by FBI agents in May 2004 during investigation of biological materials used in his art. Claire Pentecost described accompanying agents and leaving detention the next afternoon after legal advice. Source: https://lightresearch.net/interviews/kurtz/index.html

The Italian bulletin reports this case but gives May 30 and wrongly combines bioterrorism accusations and both defendants outcomes. Contemporary accounts instead describe May 11-13 events. No exact arrest day is imposed amid this conflict. Source: https://centrostudilibertari.it/sites/default/files/materiali/bollettino_32.pdf#page=35

The defense organizations April 21, 2008 release reports Judge Richard J.Arcara dismissing Kurtzs mail/wire-fraud indictment concerning harmless bacteria. This was dismissal before trial, not a bioterrorism acquittal or 2008 physical release. Source: https://critical-art.net/defense/releases/042108_Release.html
