Biography

Stephen Balogh described a brief police detention while speaking at a Communist outing at Tibbets Brook Park in a signed letter in the Daily Worker of July 10, 1934, page 4. Police stopped the speech, ordered him to accompany them, and let him go when more than one hundred workers offered to follow him to the station. His account does not establish arrival at the station, booking, a formal charge, exact incident date or a jail term. It documents a brief interference with free speech and detention, not a proven prison admission. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1934/v11-n164-jul-10-1934-DW-LOC.pdf
