Biography

Stanley Borowsky participated in the 1956 New York protest against compulsory air-raid shelter drills. Dorothy Day’s eyewitness account says he refused $100 bail and remained imprisoned. She saw him after five days in jail, after which he returned to his cell. A postscript records his later release without bail. This establishes at least five days of actual confinement; the complete duration and exact admission and release dates remain unknown.
