Biography
Sol Bornstein, a member of Painters Local 275, was arrested more than a year before the November 1936 report after a confrontation with a Hearst-company thug. A $100 fine was imposed, and Judge Green reversed the conviction on November 2, 1936. The newspaper challenges the prosecution. The reversal is not proof of an exact physical discharge, and neither the fine nor the age of the case establishes time in jail. Labor Defender, December 1936, original PDF page 22.
