Biography
Zinn reports that Slater King was arrested while serving as spokesman for a kneeling protest at Albany City Hall on December 13, 1961, and received five days for contempt. Zinn later describes him in the city jail and reports a guard struck him while he passed food to a sick female prisoner. Five days is the sentence, not a verified complete duration; no exact discharge is supplied. Howard Zinn, Albany, Southern Regional Council SRC22, January 8, 1962, original PDF page 16.
