Biography
Shizuo Charles Kitajima was a Nisei Japanese American from Kohala, Hawaii Island, and a son of Yoshio and Roku Kitajima. JCCH records his birth year as 1936. His own individual record documents December 1942 mainland transfer aboard Lurline, Jerome confinement January 1943-May 1944, Tule Lake confinement May 1944-November 1945 and December 1945 return to Honolulu aboard Shawnee. His family confinement timeline is distinct from the December 1941 arrest of his father. This was administrative US wartime confinement in the context of Japanese ancestry; the archive establishes no individual criminal conviction.
