Biography
Sang Ryup Park was the English-language editor of Korean Independence and an outspoken opponent of South Korean president Syngman Rhee. Immigration authorities ordered him deported on November 29, 1951 and took him into custody. A federal court ruled on May 9, 1952 that the government’s conclusion that he would not face political persecution was unsupported, enjoined deportation to South Korea, and subsequently ordered his release. The precise release date has not been established.
