Biography
Samuel L. “Sam” Jessup was the videographer for the October 11, 2016 Climate Direct Action pipeline shutdown in North Dakota. He livestreamed Michael Foster’s closure of a TransCanada Keystone pipeline valve and was arrested with Foster. A jury convicted Jessup in October 2017 of conspiracy to commit criminal mischief and conspiracy to commit criminal trespass. On February 6, 2018, the court deferred a two-year prison term and placed him on supervised probation for two years; he did not receive an executed jail or prison sentence.
The November 2017 issue identifies Jessup as a University of Vermont algebra student. His portrait is an original photograph crop from page 1; the photographer is unnamed.
