Biography

S. E. Davis was a Minneapolis unemployed-relief protester arrested during a September 1935 demonstration at City Hall demanding a 38 percent increase in relief. The Daily Worker of January 31, 1936 reports a 90-day sentence imposed by Judge Luther W. Youngdahl and a petition signed by 5,000 WPA workers asking the Minnesota Supreme Court to reverse it.
