Biography
Dr. Ruth Cort was a physician living in Britain with her husband, Dr. Joseph Cort, when British authorities declined to extend their residence. The couple moved to Czechoslovakia in 1954 while Joseph faced a United States draft-evasion indictment and threatened loss of citizenship. Ruth was not charged, arrested, or confined in the United States; her record concerns political exile rather than imprisonment.
