Biography

Russell Gomez Dzul was stopped by Border Patrol while riding a bicycle in Los Angeles County on June 7, 2025 during the federal immigration operations that prompted widespread protests. Agents arrested him and accused him of kicking an officer while handcuffed in a patrol vehicle. Prosecutors reduced the original felony allegation to a misdemeanor. A jury acquitted Gomez Dzul on January 14, 2026, but he remained in ICE custody because of his immigration status.
