Biography

Ruben Kaufman was a labor prisoner held at Welfare Island in New York City. Page 4 reports that a delegation of sixteen political-prisoner relief supporters visited him there on December 23, 1935, bringing Christmas gifts. The paper says he was jailed on charges arising from strike activity but supplies neither the particular strike nor a statutory charge, conviction, admission, release or actual confinement length.
