Biography

Page 1 identifies Roy Hudson, secretary of the Marine Workers Industrial Union, as recently arrested on vagrancy charges in the Virginia campaign of arrests accompanying Alexander Wright’s election tour. It explicitly says Hudson and Klein had later been released and fines in two other unnamed cases were under appeal; those other fines are not assigned to either named man. Pages 1–2 identify Hudson as chairman of the Seamen’s United Front Strike Committee at 140 Broad Street, reporting on the October maritime strike, flying picket squads and efforts to recruit crews arriving in port. His quoted account says the first day tested the strike’s strength and ships previously pledged were expected to join on arrival. This documents continued organizing after the already recorded Virginia release; it is not a new arrest or a custody endpoint.
