Biography

Rose Brown was the local Needle Trades Workers Industrial Union organizer leading the Princess Dress Shop strike in Union City, New Jersey. An August 8 dispatch printed August 9, 1933 reports her arrest the previous day, just before police broke the picket line. She was charged with disorderly conduct and scheduled for Wednesday trial in Union City Court. The August 7 arrest follows the dispatch’s explicit relative chronology; no release or total duration is established.
